Distribution of Military Capabilities Dataset

The Distribution of Military Capabilities (rDMC) dataset offers machine-readable, longitudinal data cataloging every piece of equipment included in IISS’ The Military Balance covering more than 170 countries over the period 1970-2014.

The Military Balance

The Military Balance is a publication of the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) and serves as a comprehensive annual reference for state inventories and defense trends worldwide. The Military Balance serves as CFPI’s data source for quantities of indexed weapon systems. A premium version is also available.

Stockholm International Peace Research Institute

The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) pursues research and maintains references on various facets of global security. SIPRI’s interactive databases include records of international arms transfers and state military spending.
